SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER 2012, is the 22nd International Festival of theater schools. The initiator of the event is the Theater Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno (DIFA  JAMU). Established here in 1990 the idea of meeting all three high performing schools from the former Czechoslovakia. During one weekend in February 1991 met teachers and students DIFA JAMU, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, to each other showed examples of his work and working methods.

From 1 year, the festival is constantly evolving and expanding. Participation of foreign schools had international festival ENCOUNTER epithet, extended for 5 days and expanded its program of supporting events. Over time, the festival began SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER acquire the nationwide significance and fostered by, inter alia, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, South Moravia Region Governor and the Mayor of the city of Brno. Festival SETKÁNÍ / ENCOUNTER is considered one of the most important of its kind. This year's festival is held under the auspices of the Czech Commission for UNESCO Commission, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Governor of South Moravia, Mayor of the City of Brno, the rector of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno.

The student organizing team is supervised by the festival director prof., Mgr. Peter Oslzlý, Dean of DIFA JAMU doc., MgA. Zbyněk Srba, Ph.D., Secretary of DIFA JAMU MgA. Ondřej Vodička, head Department of Theatre Management and Stage Technology doc., Mgr. Jan Kolegar, Vice-Dean MgA. Blanka Chládková and the economic supervisor of festival BcA. Alena Hájková.


Festival is held with the financial support of City of Brno, South Moravian Region, Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic and International Visegrad Fund.

Festival is held under the auspices Czech Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic, Lord Mayor of statutary town Brno and Rector Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno.
