The 22nd year

The overall theme of this year's festival can be seen in our slogan "Do I have a dream?" This is an allusion to the famous speech delivered by Martin Luther King on the 23rd August 1963. Martin Luther King opened his address with the immortal words "I have a dream" – thus expressing the desire of so many of the world´s population, who wanted, then as now, to live without discrimination or other unnecessary limitations on our humanity and human rights. This year´s festival is related to M. L. King´s vision and asks the question whether today´s young people are united by any common dream. We will strive to fulfill the original dream we had for our festival´s purpose, to “live it out”, as well as to adapt it, if necessary. We hope to reinvigorate the dreams of the past and will do our best to prevent their becoming empty shells.
