The review – THE CITY NOISE

The noise of the city brings a rush of emotions that move the whole performance. The main idea – the life of a person who has experienced a tragic event – fills the whole performance. At the end of the play, the viewer is acquainted with the fact that it was a tragic terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in the USA. The main character is a father whose son was one of the victims of the attack.
In a very short performance, many emotions that moved me managed to play out. Panic, anxiety, tension and chaos, all complemented by symbols that evoke an atmosphere even more. These included, for example, chairs that people pulled behind them, I saw in them the burden that each of us carries, then the repetition of some movements, which gradually increases, and thus emphasizes the urgency of everything that affects us in the performance. Flashes of light can also be a symbol as flashes of memories that emerge in all of us.
The play is full of twists and turns – from speed to calm, from darkness to light, from noise to silence. For me, it has always been a moment of surprise, a shock that undoubtedly belongs to every tragedy.
The play is not overfilled with text, there’s just the right amount of it; the same phrases often repeated, adding again to the urgency of the problem – how a person with a traumatic experience lives.
The performance is complemented by very suitable music and lighting, both of which help to illustrate the feelings that the actors themselves evoke in us and whose performances are, in my opinion, very good.
