Article 1
Aim of the festival
The SETKANI/ENCOUNTER festival is an international festival of theatre schools of university type or similar national
institutions. The mission of the festival is to create the space for the meeting of students, teachers and theatre
professionals from all the world.
The festival wants to unable mutual exchange of experience, methods and results of their work and to develop the
discussion about the future of art schools as well.
Article 2
Organisers
The Theatre Faculty of Janáček Academy of music and Performing Arts is the main organiser of the SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER festival.

The festival is also supported by co-organisers: Centre of Experimental Theatre
- Theatre Goose on the String
and Bolek Polívka´s Theatre.
It is possible to use Astorka the information, education and accommodation centre, situated
at 3, Novobranská Street.
Article 3
The date of the festival
The festival is held for five days [from Tuesday to Saturday] in first two week of April [after eight weeks of summer semester]. In this part of the academic year there is enough material that can be presented in the festival.
Article 4
Venues
The following spaces are available [according to our possibilities and needs of the participants]:

Article 5
Festival Board
Setkání/Encounter the International festival of theatre school of university type is run by the Festival board, whose members are:
a) director of festival whose name is put forward by the Artistic Board of DIFA JAMU
b) Dean of DIFA JAMU
c) Secretary of DIFA JAMU
d) Head leading of Theatre management and Stage technology department
e) Course teacher of the subject called: International Festival Organisation
f) Festival student co-ordinator appointed by the head of the Theatre Management and Stage Technology department
g) Representative of the students co-ordinator appointed by the student co-ordinator
h) Head of economy department appointed by student co-ordinator
i) Head of press department appointed by student co-ordinator
j) Head of logistic department appointed by student co-ordinator
The right to participate at the Festival Board meetings have the following:
a. representatives of co-organisers
b. heads of DIFA JAMU departments
c. students of Theatre management and Stage technology department
d. editor in chief of the festival bulletin appointed by students festival co-ordinator
e. representative of head editor of festival bulletin appointed by the head editor
The main task of the Festival Board is to encourage activities aming at the mission of the festival as well as to check all
the activities necessary for the festival implementation including mainly the following:
a. the design of the concept festival is singled out from the competitions participants
b. to carry and to control the festival budget
c. to carry the official festival documents
The festival co-ordinator who runs and organises the work of the festival team is guided by the teacher of the subject
called International Festival Organisation
The festival director the SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER international festival of theatre school of university type is the official
festival representative.
The director of festival is the chair person of the Festival Board. The festival co-ordinator (a student) is the
vice-chairperson.
The vote of the Festival Board is open to public. Each Festival Board member has one vote. The presented proposal
is accepted if at least 51% of the Board members vote for it.
The Festival Board sessions are open to public.
Article 6
The concept of the Festival programme
The Festival programme consists of the following
a. Performances of the participating arts schools
b. Accompanying events { presentations of works by the Theatre Faculty students, students' discussions, teachers' meetings}
Article 7
The concept of the Festival dramaturgy
The concept of the programme and its dramaturgy intention has always in mind the festival mission> it goes especially about creation of the space where results of schools' work can be presented and about mutual reflection these different ways and methods through given instigation and space for discuss.
The main motto of the Encounter festival is " Education to acting of 21st century". The festival describes and investigates transformations of acting _expression in connection with social-cultural changes and development of theatre.
Article 8
The number of participants is limited especially by our financial possibilities. The number of participants is regularly stated in the application form. The final choice subject to Festival rules and criteria agreed by the Festival Board
The organisers will do their best to cover the costs of the participants ´ accommodation, board and information material - it is however necessary to keep to a balanced budget. The travelling costs will be covered by the participants.
Besides officially invited participants other interested people from school, press and cultural public can take part in the festival.
The guests of the festival have to cover a certain part of costs of their stay. They have the priority of booking tickets for festival performances in advance for the full reservation fee.
The honorary guest of the festival are admitted to all festival ventures under the same condition as students and teachers. The festival board has the right to invited honorary guest under the same financial conditions as the participants of the festival.
Article 9
Awards and Jury
The "Marta Award" of the International Festival of Theatre Schools {of university level] Setkani |Encounter is granted as an _expression of acknowledgement for outstanding artistic achievements to the students who participated in the creation of the performances included in the main festival programme . The purpose of the award is to highlight inspiring, exploratory works of young theatre - makers.
Any of these awards can be presented only for the student achievement. Teachers, theatre professionals and like cannot receive the award.
The award is granted by the Jury of the International Festival of Theatre Schools Setkani | Encounter. The festival Jury consists of theatre professionals and representatives of students. Their number is determined by the Festival Board every year.
The Jury is constituted after mutual agreement by the Dean of the Theatre Faculty oh Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts, Brno, and the Director of the International Festival of Theatre Schools Setkani |Encounter and it includes national as well as foreign specialist and students. The ratio of national and foreign students is not specified.
The members of the Jury must not have any work on study relation to any of the schools participating in the main festival
programme.
A more precise specification of the Marta Award of the International Festival of the Theatre Schools Setkani| Encounter is to be found in the supplement number one of this status.
Article 10
Festival Designer
The Festival Board annually advertises a competition of the stage designer and choose him |her of the basis of the competition.
Article 11
Supplements of the Status
The Status of the International Festival of Theatre Schools includes in following supplements:
1. The Award Marta of the International Festival of Theatre Schools Setkani | Encounter
2. General conditions of the competitions for the designer of the International Festival of Theatre Schools Setkani| Encounter
3. Official logos of the Festival - those of the organisers and co-organisers
4. Official heading paper of the Festival
Article 12
Final regulations
I. The participation in the Festival anticipates agreement with this statutes.
II. The Status of the International Festival of Theatre Schools Setkani | Encounter was accepted by the Festival Board on .................
Status of SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER the International Festival of theatre schools of University Type
Supplement I: Status of "The Marta Award" at SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER the International Festival of Theatre Schools
1. "The Marta Award" can be presented in following categories:
Original dramatic text or script of a play
Dramaturgy or adaptation of a text
Directing
Stage design (i.e. the whole stage design or its individual parts)
Music
Female actor
Male actor
2. The Jury can grant maximum three awards in any category. It means that awards won't be granted in all categories.
3. According the consensus the Jury will appoint one of the awards as "The Award of the Mayor of Brno" and one award as "The Award of the Rector of Janá*ek Academy of Music and Performing Arts". These awards are presented to those artistic student achievements, which in the opinion of the Jury deserve special attention.
4. The Dean of the Theatre Faculty of JAMU and the Director of the Festival are entitled to present their awards, i.e. "The Award of the Dean of the Theatre Faculty" and : The Award of the Festival Director". According to their consideration the Dean of the Theatre Faculty and the Director of the Festival present these awards, which can be independent on the opinion of the Festival Jury and on the award Categories. Neither of these two awards has to be awarded.
5. The performance that receives the highest number of votes in the audience poll will be granted the "Audience Award". The Festival Committee formulates the rules of the audience poll every year.
Supplement II
1.Competition for the designer of the festival is announced by the Festival Board every year.
2.At the first session of the Festival board the student co-ordinator appoints one member of the Festival Board who will be responsible for the whole competition. The responsible person is usually a student the head of the press section.
3.The responsible person should announce the competition on behalf of the Festival Board within one week since its appointment at the latest.
4.The competition is announced on the official notice board of the Setkání/Encounter festival in the building of the Theatre Faculty and at easily accessible places at the Stage Design Department in the Marta Studio Theatre.
5.Smooth running of the competition is assured by the responsible person in co-operation with the head of the Stage Design Department.
6.The Festival Board singles out the designer of the festival on the basis of a presented design of the festival poster and the cover of the Bulletin in the form of a concertino book in format A3. He design should be also convenient for the following formats 1/2 A2, Euro poster and web-sites.
7.The design of the poster and the Bulletin should include the folowing:
