OFF – Is it possible we are so wonderful?
Every girl has her own Guillaume
“Wouldn’t it be easier if life had a script? And if you fuck something up, your inner voice in your head will excuse it and explain it,” asks a young dubbing artist (Klára Bulantová) her director Robert in a recording studio. During the dubbing process of a French romantic movie, their relationship rises to the surface. Meanwhile, the dubbing artist watches a movie, which she is supposed to be dubbing, and she is laughing at the naivety and the stupidity of the main hero. Honestly, it is easier to look at someone else’s life – and easier to judge it. I have to confess that time after time I have to self-critically smile and just as the main hero in the monodrama Is it possible that we are so wonderful? I have to say, “She’s just as stupid as me”.

Better to be without Guillaume
A swift look into the soul of a young woman that is overflowing with a complicated relationship and troubles stemming from them. That’s briefly the abstract of a simple monodrama Is it possible that we are so wonderful?, in which the main hero uncovers her current problems just as she uncovers what’s in her bags. Gradually, she is getting comfortable and opening to a director, in a small dubbing studio, where she came to quickly play a role in thirty minutes, with whom she’s maintaining an unfulfilling relationship. Klára Bulantová does not need anyone else on the stage. Her Bára is sarcastic, vigorous, funny, a little broken and tired of endlessly waiting to enter the right tunnel.
It’s neither comedy nor tragedy. It is just a story about one of the possible ways that life can go.
